Andreas Neocleous & Co LLC hosted the biannual meeting of the Cicero League of International Lawyers which was held in Limassol between 17 and 19 November 2011. CICERO is an established network of more than 30 international independent law firms providing high-quality service in the corporate, commercial and property sectors. During the meeting representatives of member firms from around the world took part in specialist workshops on construction law, European law, taxation, transport law, labour law and the contrasts between the legal systems of different European countries, and exchanged ideas on a wide array of subjects including the future development of the Cicero network to benefit clients and, inevitably, how different countries are being affected by the current financial turmoil.
Panayiotis Neocleous and Philippos Aristotelous welcomed delegates to the conference on behalf of our firm and gave presentations on Cyprus, its advantages as a base for international business, and the development of our firm and the Cyprus service industry. These excited great interest and a vigorous discussion in the ensuing question and answer session.
During the three day conference, apart from the formal meetings and workshops delegates and their partners took advantage of the opportunity to relax and enjoy the local food, wine and hospitality. They also took part in a tour of Cyprus's historic sites and the Byzantine museum of Paphos.
On Friday evening delegates and their partners visited our Limassol offices for a tour of the premises and a cocktail reception. Mr Peter Munday, the President of the Cicero League of International Lawyers, presented Andreas Neocleous, chairman of our firm, with a commemorative plaque in recognition of the firm's hospitality in organising and hosting the conference. Responding, Mr Neocleous welcomed the guests and congratulated Mr Munday on the success of the Cicero League and of the conference.
